Nuno Felting - Breaking the Myth
Using the wide selection of materials stocked by Twist you will experiment with the amazing puckered and crinkled textures that can be achieved by felting fibre into fabric. The techniques shown are perfect for creating lightweight scarves, wraps and clothing. You will work on samples then create a small finished item to take home. Bring a notebook and camera. This will be a very physical day and previous felt making experience is required. Bring a packed lunch.

Felt Making an Recycling Clothing
The Day will begin with an inspiring show of exciting samples and Liz will talk through a wide variety of ideas for creating new wearable's from old, featuring waistcoats, mitts, bags and hats... a whole wardrobe of ideas! Using recycled knitwear as a base, step out of your comfort zone and create something wild! Using felting needles and embellisher machines, wool will be used as the 'glue' in the process of attaching fabrics and fibre together. Felt could be used as a bridge between fabrics or perhaps to extend the hem or sleeve of a garment to get the perfect fit. Dying will be demonstrated and tried on a small scale to show how colours can be adapted for your own palette. Recycled knitwear will be provided and if you have any fabrics you would like to incorporate or learn how they could be incorporated please ring them along. For those attending both workshops we can discuss on Saturday the garment you would like to create over both days. Bring a packed lunch.

Decorative Willow and Felt Basketry
Make a decorative vessel using traditional willow weaving techniques combined with felted pieces. This course is suitable for complete beginners in both disciplines. Over 3 days you will learn to make a circular willow basket using Scottish grown willows and transform the structure by adding felted pieces into the side weave. You will also be able to thread or tie found objects such as shells, twigs, feathers and beads into the structure in order to produce a unique, sculptural vessel.
Jane Wilkinson makes traditional baskets, woven fences and coracles. She also produces contemporary willow work and has exhibited her craft throughout Scotland, the north of England and New York. She has been weaving since 1995 and has been both chair and vice chair of the Scottish Basket Makers Circle. She has also judged the basketry class at the Royal Highland Show.

Corrugated Neck Pieces
Jeanette's corrugated scarves are inspired by Shetland and reflect the colours of the landscape. You will begin by creating a long, elegant length of felt with organic edges which you will then sculpt, through stitch. Please bring along your sewing machine.

Playing with Pre-Felt Day
We love working with this versatile dyed pre-felted fabric. Come along and see what the possibilities are. You will create a scarf or hanging and in the afternoon a seamless felt hat. Bring a packed lunch.
